Egad

I'm sorry it's been over a month since I posted last... Things have been nutty, stressful, overwhelming, and beautiful all at the same time. School just keeps on going, and the kids are good but the holidays are hard. They have been loud, excited, emotional, and needy. We got through it together! And now, I'm far, far, away back in Perth. It's kind of weird, it doesn't feel like home but it is somehow still quaint and comforting, but a bit empty in some way. Last night I went to Sarah and Darren's for a gift-wrapping extravaganza and partook in some chocolate crispies (for Santa). The roads are icy here and when I got to the end of their driveway to come home I skidded out (I was driving about 10km/hr maaaybe) and almost ended up sliding right off the road. I didn't quite have a nervous breakdown but it was enough to get me back up the driveway and ask to stay the night on their couch. So, this morning was a bit unconventional but I had the nice experience of lying on the couch in the dark with the Chistmas tree listening to the not-so-baby-Nye and Angus and Harry exclaiming as they opened up their stockings ("Oh, a firetruck! I WANTED a FIRETRUCK!") and then I got to go upstairs and play a little while. I've been invited to go back and play once I get all of MY toys opened up, so I will do that in a bit. This is going to be a quiet Christmas, which I don't mind. Puzzles and tea, almond crescents and seeing a few old friends, I can't complain. Merry Christmas everyone.
